Orthokeratology

What is Orthokeratology or Ortho-K?

The word ortho means to correct or straighten, -kera means cornea, -ology means the study of. So Orthokeratology means correcting the cornea by using a hard lens to reshape or flatten the cornea overnight, redirecting the focus of light back onto the retina or center of our vision. Throughout the day, the cornea will slowly rebound back to its old shape. It is, therefore, important to get more than 7hrs of sleep to give the lens a chance to flatten the cornea.
Dr. Ly uses specialized hard lenses to manage myopia for her patients and gives them the freedom to play sports or swim without the need for contacts during the day.
